Virtual Reynolds | 3D Model Development for VR Training Application
I was actively involved in the research, creation and optimisation of 3D models for a VR training application, playing a key role in bringing immersive environments and interactive elements to life. My responsibilities covered both technical and artistic aspects, ensuring that the models were visually realistic while also optimised for performance in a virtual reality setting.
A major part of this role involved upskilling in the creation of VR-ready assets – learning how to manage polygon budgets, perform efficient UV mapping, bake textures and follow best practices to maintain high performance without compromising visual fidelity.
In addition to developing assets for the application itself, I was also responsible for producing mockup renders, video flybys and other marketing visuals to support the project’s promotional efforts. These materials were used to communicate the project’s vision to stakeholders and provide early previews of the VR experience in development.
Working closely with developers, I helped ensure seamless integration of assets into the VR environment, contributing to a smooth and immersive user experience. This project gave me hands-on experience in end-to-end asset development for virtual reality and broadened my skill set across both production and presentation.
For this project, Blender was my primary tool for 3D modeling, allowing me to bring complex ideas to life with flexibility and precision. From initial concept blocking to final optimised VR assets, Blender provided a complete workflow that supported the unique demands of VR development.
